The Duck Race 2011... the day of the annual duck race run by local charity, Surrey Care Trust, featuring eye-catching, 2ft-long, yellow ducks, started with blue skies. At midday, the sky turned a moody shade of grey and before the end of the second race, race-goers were huddled under the gazebo.
But spirits were only dampened, not drenched and we are delighted to have raised £2,000 from this event, thanks to generous local companies who each sponsor a duck - or two - and compete for our Duck Trophy. Our thanks to them and to the Mayor and Mayoress of Guildford, Cllr Terry and Mrs Angela Patrick who joined us on the riverbank.
The winning duck was sponsored by Runnymede Homes.
The Surrey Care Trust works across Surrey, creating life-changing opportunities for people of all ages through innovative education, and giving practical help to people facing hardship through our Crisis Grants fund.
